Item description from seller

no date, presumed mid to late 1800s. Green cloth with decorations and titling in gilt. All page edges gilt. 442 pages. A collection of poetry by Adelaide Procter, preceded by an introduction by Charles Dickens that provides a short account of his publishing of her work in his journal 'Household Words,' as well as a short biography of her. Adelaide Procter was a 19th century English poet known for her work with homeless people and unemployed women, as well as her somewhat feminist views on issues of the day. While much of her poetry reflects religious themes, some also document the lives of the less fortunate of her era (see Wikipedia). GOOD condition. General fading and very minor soiling. Extremities scuffed and bumped. Previous owner's signature in the interior. Hinges shaken but holding. Minor toning to the paper.
