Green cloth heavily decorated in gilt on the spine. Early pencil inscription on front flyleaf dated 1882, tips of spine and corners are lightly rubbed, else a near fine copy, with the cloth and gilt decoration quite bright. Myles O'Reilly was born Charles Graham Halpine (1829-1868) in Co. Meath, Ireland, and he emigrated to America, becoming a successful newspaper journalist and editor. During the American Civil War he enlisted in the 47th New York Regiment, and also wrote articles about the War (under the pseudonym Miles O'Reilly). Seller Inventory # 511048
