A complete four volume set of the poetical work of John Milton in a smart binding. Complete in four volumes. Fourth edition. With an engraved portrait frontispiece, and facsimile of John Milton's handwriting in volume one, and two plates in volume four. Collated complete. The collected poetry of John Milton, an English poet and intellectual best remembered for his 1667 epic poem Paradise Lost, which is hailed as one of the greatest works in English literature. With notes from various authors, and with some account of the life and writings of Milton, derived from original documents in Her Majesty's State-Paper Office. Edited by the Rev. Henry John Todd, an English cleric and librarian at Lambeth Palace. Bound in full mottled calf. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Light fading to the spines and the odd mark to the front board of volume two. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Age toning to the endpapers with light tide marks to the front endpapers of volume one. Contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpaper of volume one dated 1848. Very Good.
