16mo. 12.7cm, 2 volumes in One, 171 & 140pp., with 2 engraved plates, in contemporary full diced tan calf, gilt ruled flat bands and gilt decorations in the panels, double title panels, gilt roll borders on the boards, marbled endpapers and edges, very to fine in attractive antique binding (ho5.1). ~ Volume One is primarily two versions of the didactic poem "The Pleasures of Imagination" (the original 1744 edition and the enlarged version of 1757 1770) and includes a preface from the 1772 edition by Akenside's life long friend, Jeremiah Dyson (1722 1776). Volume Two is an extensive collection of odes and inscriptions including "On a Winter Solstice".
