Original paper covered feathered boards in shades of maroon blue and cream to front and back boards, light brown calf spine and corners, banded spine, gilt titlle to spine, gilt decoration to panels, some rubbing to spine at the top and bottom, minor rubbing at extremities, all edge marbled, feathered endpapers in maroon blending with main boards, 7.0 x 5.5 inches approx. , ink inscription on reverse side of front endpaper, follows front endpaper dated 1939, 640 pages.
