Poetry of Rav Yosef Tzvi Rimon: A Myrtle in the Desert

Rav Yosef Tzvi Rimon wrote heartfelt, spiritual poetry that resonated with the secular and religious alike. Rav Kook himself saw Rav Rimon as the individual who would develop poetry that would flow from the wellsprings of holiness, which would take its place within the renaissance of Hebrew poetry. Rav Rimon's poetry was valued by the leading literary personalities of the time, such as Brenner, Bialik, and Agnon. Permeated with love of God and the Land of Israel, Rav Rimon's poetry continues to be a source of inspiration for spiritual Hebrew poetry today.

Rav Rimon was born in Poland in 1889. He moved to Israel as a young man; there, he met his future mentor, Rav Kook, and there, he subsequently married and raised a family. His poetry continues to be a source of inspiration for spiritual Hebrew poetry.
