About this Item
no date, 1968. Single sheet, folded into 4 pp. Approximately 10 by 7 inches. Light brown paper stock. Single issue of this political newsletter created by Cleveland based journalist, Roldo Bartimole. Bartimole has written for a variety of papers and is a member of the Cleveland Journalist Hall of Fame. He created Point of View in 1968, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a focus on Cleveland politics. The journal published for 32 years, with a maximum subscription number of around 1700. This issue looks at the United Appeal charity and its struggles at the time. Bartimole presciently points out that the imagery used by UA in its fundraising efforts reinforces negative stereotypes of Black people perpetuated by a white power structure. He also discusses the upstart charitable organization, Poor Feather, contrasting its model against UA's. VERY GOOD condition. Minor wrinkling and edgewear. Seller Inventory # 020156
