Pol Bury (1922-2005) was a Belgian painter, sculptor, jewellery designer, writer and graphic artist. He started out as a surrealist painter under the influence of Rene Magritte and Yves Tanguy, and later exhibited with the Jeune Peinture Belge group and the Cobra movement. Around 1953, however, Bury became fascinated by contemporary sculpture, inspired by Alexander Calder, and became one of the protagonists of kinetic art. Characteristic of his work is the extreme slowness of the often unpredictable movements that take place in his sculptures and objects. For the general public Bury is probably best known for his fountains and sculptures in public spaces. With his quirky and innovative work, Pol Bury conquered both the Parisian and New York art worlds, which at the time brought him international recognition. Books are offered if unsold. The order of incoming orders will be respected strictly.
The books that are offered online are not available at our bookshop at 48 Kloosterstraat.
You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments.
The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post.
