Police Protect and Serve (Playful Apprentice, 1)

Engaging picture book pairs factual text with playful illustrations about police officers. Character-building content helps children imagine what kind of person they will grow up to be. Includes an interview and advice from a real-life police sergeant. Starring the MVP Kids. Part of a helpful character building program.

His feet may be small, but Frankie is already following in his dad’s footsteps. With a belt full of tools and a badge on his chest, he works tirelessly to protect and serve his community. Aspiring police officers will love learning the many roles of the occupation through the imagination of this playful apprentice. An interview with a real-life police sergeant describes the career path and gives practical advice to future officers.

From the moment he wakes up to the moment he falls asleep, Frankie role-plays at being a police officer like his dad. Among other duties, he lifts heavy weights (a gallon of orange juice), goes to meetings (breakfast), captures criminals (spiders), and reminds others how to be safe. His commitment to "protect and serve" stretches even into the night as he sneaks in to sleep in his parents' room. Illustrations capture the earnestness of his play with situational comedy.

This book series showcases diversity in positive ways with characters that span various cultures, ethnicities, family situations, physical challenges and more. Readers of all backgrounds will see themselves in the pages while learning to value the diversity within their own community and being exposed to differences from around the world.
