Politics and Technocracy: Digital Power: Technocracy, Algorithms, Platforms, Data, and Artificial Intelligence in Government (Politics and Power)

How are algorithms, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence changing the way governments work?

This book examines the transformation of politics in the digital age and shows how data, automated systems, and technology companies increasingly shape public decisions, elections, and the flow of information.

Through an analysis of rising digital technocracy, the book asks who controls the systems that classify citizens, set priorities, and guide government action. It explores the use of data by governments and businesses, algorithmic decision-making, artificial intelligence in public administration, the prospect of superintelligence, and the political power of digital platforms. It also examines digital campaigns, surveillance, disinformation, deepfakes, digital identity, exclusion, cybersecurity, and technological sovereignty.

The central question is how governments can expand their capabilities without weakening democracy, freedom, or accountability. A guide for readers seeking to understand the relationship between technology and politics, and the challenges of governance in the twenty-first century.
