In good condition. Modern binding with fresh end papers. Has preserved text well. Interior lightly toned, typical of its age. Nominal areas of foxing throughout. An occasional smudge mark to a few leaves. Damp staining to proper right bottom corner that has permeated throughout text block. Does not affect text. Small tear to fifth leaf of index on proper right bottom corner. Binding tight and intact. Free of marginalia. Please see photos. Parallel columns of Latin/Greek text, full engraved frontispiece, title page vignette and decorative capitals throughout. Bilingual Edition of Polyaenus Strategems in War. A second century Macedonian author, Polyaenus wrote on the military tactics of the age, with unique historical anecdotes; it remains an important historical source. The first printed edition of the text was in Latin only, published in 1549; a second edition was published forty years later, now in Greek and Latin, a third appearance of this text, this edition, printed through 1690-91.
