Pomeranski

Pomeranski by award-winning, prolific author Gerald Jacobs is a masterfully woven, noir-tinged portrait of post-war South London’s vibrant underworld. A gripping literary saga in the tradition of Alan Sillitoe’s Saturday Night and Sunday Morning and Jake Arnott’s The Long Firm, this novel brilliantly captures the grit, glamour, and secrets of a community shaped by survival, ambition, and revenge.

At the heart of the story is Benny “The Fixer” Pomeranski—a charming and cunning figure whose legacy unravels through his funeral, remembered by his son Simon and a colourful cast of characters from Brixton’s backstreets to smoky cabarets. As layers of loyalty, betrayal, and long-lost love peel away, we’re drawn into a world of faded showgirls, underground clubs, hidden affairs, and daring heists—rich with the vernacular and vibe of an era now vanished.

Perfect for readers of Sarah Waters, John le Carré, and fans of noir-infused historical fiction, Pomeranski is a vivid reminder of the complexity of memory and the power of reinvention. With a narrative voice as evocative as it is sharp, Jacobs reasserts his place among Britain’s finest chroniclers of cultural identity, crime, and family intrigue.

Rediscover a world where jazz meets jealousy, and old scores still echo in backstreet corners—where every secret has its soundtrack and every character their own performance.
