Pooh and the Psychologists: NEW edition for 2026. Explore psychological theories through the genius of Winnie-the-Pooh

Is Pooh, the 'Bear of Very Little Brain’, actually a talented psychologist?

The author explores psychological ideas as he determines whether Pooh is himself a skilled psychologist, who 'works cures for his friends’ problems.'

New 2026 reissue edition of Pooh and the Psychologists by John Tyerman Williams, with a brand new cover design!

Featuring original, iconic quotes from A.A.Milne and decorations by E.H.Shepard from their much-loved story collections: Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner.

'Winnie-the-Pooh lived in a Forest all by himself under the name of Sanders,' and he had the name over the door in gold letters. Why Sanders? And why gold letters? Might not the gold letters stand for the brass plate of a physician or a psychotherapist? Would the bell inform Pooh that a patient was waiting for his attention?

Discover the answers to John Tyerman Williams’ hypothesis that Winnie-the-Pooh is a super-psychologist in this brillant exposé of the truth about the real Winnie-the-Pooh.

Winnie-the-Pooh, in his nurturing role, solves the problems of his friends and effectively brings changes to their lives. John Tyerman Williams discovers that Pooh, with the breadth of his psychological knowledge and his skill in applying it, proves himself to be a brilliant psychotherapist.

The nation’s favourite teddy bear has been delighting generations of children for nearly 100 years. Milne’s classic children’s stories – featuring Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and, of course, Pooh himself – are gently humorous while teaching lessons about friendship and kindness.

Pooh ranks alongside other beloved character such as Paddington Bear, and Peter Rabbit as an essential part of our literary heritage. Whether you’re 5 or 55, Pooh is the bear for all ages.

John T Williams has written both Pooh and the Philosophers and Pooh and the Psychologists, in which he cleverly incorporates and evaluates original A.A.Milne quotes and characters with E.H.Shepard’s definitive art, to bring philosophy and psychology to the masses.

E.H.Shepard was born in London in 1879. He was an artist, illustrator and cartoonist and went on to draw the original decorations to accompany Milne’s classic stories, earning him the name ‘the man who drew Pooh’.

A.A.Milne was born in London in 1882 and became a highly successful writer of plays, poems and novels. He based Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet and friends on the real nursery toys of his son Christopher Robin and published the first book of their adventures together in 1926. Since then, Pooh has become a world-famous bear, and Milne’s stories have been translated into seventy-two languages.
