Includes articles on the microscope, the great comet of 1861, the lowest life forms, artificial light, solar chemistry, the West Coast of Equatorial Africa (with a color map), optical phenomena in the atmosphere, etc. With a color plate of light spectrums, of primitive astronomy and a color map. POOR condition, EX-LIBRARY with pockets and pastedowns removed. Evidence of sticker present at the foot of the spine. Front cover and spine DETACHED from the binding. Rear cover tenuously holding. Text block CRACKED and separated into different signatures. Minor soiling and fading with general minor scuffing, heavier to the center front cover. Upper 1 inch of the cloth backstrip missing from the head o the spine, with a piece missing from the upper left front cover. Text clean with general minor toning to the pages.
