Rudolf I (1218-1291) was the first King of Germany from the House of Habsburg, and reigned from 1273 until his death. Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 365 x 448 mm., platemark 358 x 444 mm., engraved by Pieter van Sompel (c. 1600-c. 1644) after Pieter Soutman (c. 1580-1657), and published by Soutman, dated 1644. In fair condition, with minimal paper loss in the top left edge. A tear in the lower right corner, with old restoration. Margin edges uneven, creases from the top margin, and a horizontal crease in the middle of the sheet. With the collection stamp of L.A. de Vries (not in Lugt) stamped on the verso.
