Original dark green cloth/boards, with gilt lettering, [xvii] + 280 pp. with color frontis and 101 color and BW plates. Original edition in contemporary library binding. The history of Portuguese architecture with beautiful bw plates and with floor plans of many of the buildings. Includes a map of the country. The volume also contains, however, sections on painting, church plate, and tiles and includes essential information about how the Moors and more "modern" architectural styles had an influence in the Portuguese. Ends with the late Renaissance. A very detailed look at the buildings of Portugal.hardly any escaped the careful authors notice!
