If you are an adult learner with no previous knowledge of Portuguese and studying on your own, then this is the course for you. Perhaps you are taking up Portuguese again after a break from it, or are you intending learning with a class? Again, you will find this course very suitable. The language introduced is centred around realistic, everyday situations and the course covers all four of the basic skills - listening and speaking, reading and writing. The course book contains 25 thematic and carefully graded units, and covers a variety of everyday topics, progressing from introducing yourself to relpying to an advertisement or writing a CV. The emphasis is on communication throughout, with important language structures introduced through dialogues on the accompanying recording. There are plenty of exercises to practise the new language and check your learning as you go along and tips to help with pronunciation and grammar. This new edition retains the tried-and-tested basic structure of the bestselling previous edition and has been reset in a new, improved page design. The audio material to accompany this course is available separately on two 75-minute CDs or cassettes or together with the book in a pack.
