A scarce position paper that emerged from a sit-in against the firing of Marxist, feminist sociology professor, Marlene Dixon, at the University of Chicago in 1969. Beyond protesting Dr. Dixon's firing, the paper addresses the inherent sexism and discrimination against women at the University of Chicago, as well as society at large, and concludes by calling for a socialist revolution. Although there is no attribution, according to scholar Laura K. Nelson in her dissertation, The Power of Place: Structure, Culture, and Continuities in U.S. Women's Movements (2014), the position paper was produced spontaneously at a mass meeting during the sit-in, and the women involved would go on to organize a women's liberation conference later that year, in which the Chicago Women's Liberation Union (CWLU) was formed. Corner-stapled, mimeographed 11" x 8 ½" sheets, 3 p. A near fine copy. Not in WorldCat, although we note a copy in the CWLU papers at the Chicago Historical Society.
