Synopsis
Jamal Rasheed is deermined to dispel the myths about African American in general and African American males in particular. Where needed, he reprimands the African American for falling into the snares of the dominate "culture of death" and then gives example after example of how these age old, slavery based habits can be changed. About the Author
Jamal Raheem Rasheed was the first child born to William and Gladys Dudley in Gary, Indiana in 1950. Jamal graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1968. In 1972, Jamal graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri with a B.S. in Social Science and minor in African American History. In 1987, Jamal earned his Masters Degree in Education and Sociology as well as an endorsement in Health and Safety. In 1976, Jamal became a member of the then World Community of Al-Islam in the West and a dedicated and studious student of Imam W. Deen Mohammed. In 1982, Jamal completed a major milestone for all Muslims by making the Pilgrimage to Mecca, known as the Hajj. In 1990, Jamal wrote his first book, The Mentality and Morality of American History. His second book, Kidnapped, Lost and Found was published in 1993, and his third book Universal Happiness followed in 1994. In 2006, Jamal wrote three additional books, It s Mandatory to Identify and Kick Slave Habits, Positive Solutions To Improve Our Lives, and Broader Perspectives On Effectively Educating All of Us. He has presented several workshops including the National Symposium on Race Relations, Equity Education and Civil Rights sponsored by the Brown Foundation, which is known in history for the famous Brown vs. Board of Education in Topeka, Kansas. Jamal has had several TV and radio interviews, including WLIB, broadcast live from the world-famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. For thirteen years, including five years that was LIVE TV, he has expanded to a larger audience by being a producer and host of The Jamal Rasheed Show. This weekly one hour live TV show addressed critical issues that affected not only the African American community, but America has a whole-- on Public Access channel 21 Cable TV in Gary. Jamal has worked for thirty-four years in the Gary and Chicago Public Schools, teaching African American history, health and safety, sociology, world history and government and economics. In 1996, Jamal was listed in Who s Who Among America s Teachers 4th Edition, Volume III. For the past four years, Jamal has written a weekly commentary for Muslim Journal an international newspaper read by thousands of people in and outside of the United States
