Postcard dated Feb 23, 1884 from B.M. Jacob of First National Bank to Cochise County Bank, in the amount of $882.50 signed by B.M. Jacob Stamped in red, with Tombstone. Barron M. Jacobs was the organizer and first President of the Consolidated Bank of Tucson. He and his brother Louis had arrived in Tucson in 1869 with a wagon load of supplies including prized canned goods which sold for $1 a can, and even the empty cans sold for 25 cents and were used as drinking cups. The large amounts indicate the kind of money coming in from the mining boom. After their success of importing foods, they organized the Pima County Bank which became the First National Bank and eventually the Arizona National Bank. A nice item from early Territorial Arizona.
