The Potato Fields (Paperback or Softback)

Big George wasn't exactly known for his soft side.
He had a farm to run, a house full of noise, and patience that wore thin long before the kettle boiled. In the rugged hills of rural Donegal, affection wasn't his strong suit. Peace and quiet were.
Then he died.
And wouldn’t you know it… the afterlife had options - he was allowed to stay for the duration of his grandsons life - John Devenney.

In The Potato Fields, Big George tells the story of Johns life, where he can observe and send love, but not interfere. With a Garda informer, a poteen maker, a Druid Queen, a man on the run and the love between John and his disabled brother, the characters from 1981 come to life as the reader is taken on a personal journey through time. Standing between the fertile soil of the living and the white mist of the beyond, George realises the ordinary world was never quite as ordinary as it pretended to be.

Told with sharp Irish wit, a touch of the supernatural, and a voice that feels like a late-night yarn over a strong drink. This is a story of love, loss, and a deep connection to home.

Part memoir, part otherworldly mystery, and all heart, The Potato Fields is an often funny and moving tribute to the stories we leave behind.

For fans of Irish storytelling with heart, edge, and a touch of the supernatural.
