Item description from seller

Print on Demand. From an economic standpoint, this book analyzes potential abilities of soil-bank and corn-allotment programs to influence output, resource use, and individual farm incomes. The author provides information on the potential ability of different types of programs to influence intra-farm equilibrium through comparing profit-maximizing farm plans for farms under various programs with profit-maximizing plans for the same farms without a program. Using linear programming, the author determines how production control programs would affect family farms in southern Iowa. Findings reveal how shifting capital from crop enterprises and hogs to beef cattle would create opportunities for livestock farmers participating in production control programs to use as much capital as they are currently using. The data also shows that typical livestock enterprises on cash-grain farms would not be impacted by the programs and that farmers who choose to comply with control programs could see a small increase in net income for cash-grain farms and only a small decrease in net income for livestock farms. This book provides valuable insights and implications for policymakers looking to implement or alter production-control programs and would be of great interest to agricultural economists, policymakers, and farmers seeking to understand the potential effects of production-control programs on their operations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
