As a child, Béatrice Simon was charmed by the magic of crochet. It all started with Aunt Lila, who first taught her to make Granny squares in the 1970&;s. Her studies in languages and linguistics led her to travel widely, especially in southern Germany, where she taught her mother tongue for many years and worked as a translator. About six years ago, she decided to focus on translating works about her favorite subject: needle work in German, English, and French. At the same time, she rediscovered the endless possibilities for creating magic with just a hook and some yarn. In memory of her Aunt Lila, she took the pseudonym “lillicroche,&; which she uses on her tri-lingual blog, lillicroche.wordpress.com, and published patterns. Since 2009, she has been living in Brittany, France, where the pot of ideas never stops simmering.
