Born in Bury St. Edmunds, England. James travelled the world extensively. He was shot at in India, climbed Pyramids in Egypt and mountains in the Himalayas, was police-detained in Hawaii, broke his neck in Australia, swam with beavers in Canada as well as all the usual stuff like hypothermia, muggings, desert breakdowns, getting lost, etc... James has worked as a landscaper, designer, teacher, estate agent, researcher, tour-guide, a PA and a journalist among other things. He's easily distracted by the sound of leather on willow and mildly obsessed with Dachshunds and organic ponds. James lived between the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Moors with his young family. It inspired him to use these beautiful areas as the location for his writing. In 2013 James rowed the English Channel and the 21 tidal miles of the Thames for MND and Breakthrough Breast cancer in 2013.
