Power System Dynamics (Hardcover)

Application of techniques emphasized Illustrative examples presented; Material is classroom tested.

The book will be useful for those who are interested in Power Systems, Control Systems and Electrical Machines, especially Synchronous machines. It provides comprehensive and in-depth information on Dynamics and Transient Stability aspects. The books covers Power Systems Modeling, Application of Frequency Domain, Time Domain Techniques and Lyapunov Direct Method for Analysis of Dynamical Behaviour of Power Systems subjected to small and large disturbances. The application of techniques has been stressed rather than description of the theoretical basis of these techniques. Several illustrative examples have been presented wherever necessary.

Table of Contents: Fundamental Concepts of Electric Power Systems/ Power System Under Small Disturbance/ Dynamical Analysis of Simple Power System/ Dynamic Stability Analysis of Uncontrolled Power System Including Field Transient/ Self-Excitation Phenomena/ Voltage and Speed Regulation Systems/ Dynamic Stability Analysis of a Power System with Controlled Excitation/ Block Diagram Representation and Effect of Excitation Control on Electric Power/ Dynamic Stability Boundaries for a Power System Using D-Partition Method/ Time Domain Formulation of Dynamic Stability Problem for a Simple Power System/ State-Space Formulation of Dynamic Stability Problem for a Multi-Machine Power System/ transient Stability and Concepts/ Transient Stability Study/ Modelling and Methods of Transient Stability Analysis/ Detailed Indirect Transient Stability Methods/ Direct Method for Transient Stability Assessment/ Application of Equal Area Criterion to Multi-Machine Power System Transient Stability Assessment./ Lyapunov Direct Method/ Methods of Construction of Lyapunov Functions/ Generation of Lyapunov Functions/ Exercise Problems
