A majority of the Kenyan population cannot afford cement, which is a major building binder for housing and construction in general .This has lead to the mushrooming of slums such as Kibera in Nairobi-Kenya. There is an increasing demand for decent housing as the shanty houses poses various health challenges. Blending of OPC and local clays to make potential pozzolanic cements could offer affordable cement. The blended cement could lead to better housing facilities for low income earning people in the developing countries, Kenya included.
