Practical Design of Experiments (DOE): A Guide for Optimizing Designs and Processes

This book was written to aid quality technicians and engineers. It is a result of 30 years of quality-related work experience. To that end, the intent of this book is to provide the quality professional working in virtually any industry a quick, convenient, and comprehensive guide to properly conducting design of experiments (DOE) for the purpose of process optimization. This is a practical introduction to the basics of DOE, intended for people who have never been exposed to design of experiments, been intimidated in their attempts to learn about DOE, or have not appreciated the potential of this family of tools in their process improvement and optimization efforts. In addition, this book is a useful reference when preparing for and taking many of the ASQ quality certification examinations, including the Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), and Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).

Mark Allen Durivage has worked as a practitioner, educator, and consultant. Durivage is Managing Principal Consultant at Quality Systems Compliance LLC. He received an A.A.S in Computer Aided Machining from Owens Community College, a B.A.S in Computer Aided Machining from Siena Heights University and a M.S. in Quality Management from Eastern Michigan University. Additionally, Durivage served an apprenticeship and is a journeyman mold maker. He is an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Fellow and holds several ASQ certifications including; CQM/OE, CRE, CQE, CQA, CHA, CBA, CPGP, and CSSBB. Durivage is an active member of the ASQ Toledo Section, the ASQ Reliability Division, and the ASQ Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Division holding several Section and Division leadership positions. Durivage and his family currently reside in Lambertville, Michigan. He was a contributing author and the editor of The Certified Pharmaceutical GMP Professional Handbook (ASQ Quality Press, 2014) and the author of Practical Engineering, Process, and Reliability Statistics (ASQ Quality Press, 2014) and Practical Attribute and Variable Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) A Guide for Conducting Gage R&R Studies and Test Method Validations (ASQ Quality Press, 2015).
