About this title

Synopsis:

This is the exercise book for the person on the go. Not too dense with theory, Practical Fitness: a busy person's guide to getting and staying in shape, will help you design an exercise program for your needs without a tremendous investment in time. Learn how to perform the exercises (with pictures and illustrations), how to construct a program, how to keep track of progress, how to troubleshoot, and most importantly, learn the time-tested principals that make any program effective. Designed to allow you to dive right in at any part of the book, you can start using the principals right away, or invest just a bit of time into learning some of the whys and hows of exercise. There’s also a brief section on food to help guide you through an effective approach to eating that will compliment your exercise program. The book is designed with all general fitness goals in mind, so those looking to lose weight, add some muscle, improve their overall fitness and health, raise their energy levels, and keep those results without rearranging their entire lives will find what they are looking for here. The author, having worked with hundreds of clients, both women and men, of all ages, and with all different types of goals, pours his 20 plus years of experience as a trainer, and years of research and study, into a book that should be of tremendous value to most, especially if you’ve been frustrated in your efforts of the past.

About the Author:

I've been in the personal training business for over 20 years. I've worked with many types of people with many different goals. While some of my clients have been active or aspiring athletes, bodybuilders, or fitness competitors, most have been busy working people looking to get in shape and not have the process take over their lives. I've learned through reading many studies and books, attending many seminars and lectures, and most importantly, through experience, how to streamline exercise programs to fit most people's lives, but still have those programs be highly effective. That's the message that I would most like to get across, because I see many people give up on an exercise program, or never even try to start one, because the are under the misconception that to get results, they have to undergo extreme deprivations and complete massively time-consuming exercise protocols. It's just not true. My approach is not the overnight transformation. This isn't a quick fix. My approach is to make gradual changes that add up over time. While the results are steady and significant, you should never feel overwhelmed by your attempts to get fit. (I learned that lesson the hard way. You never forget your first time being cursed out by a client. "All in good fun," she claimed.) I have seen these methods work for hundreds of clients throughout my career with little, if any, of the backsliding that you see with many other approaches.
