The Practical Guide To Buddhist Training Trilogy - 2. Ethics & Shamatha.

The Practical Guide To Buddhist Training Trilogy - 2. Ethics & Shamatha.

A clear, easy-to-follow, structured path to steady calm and wise freedom.

This trilogy uses the acronym READINESS to structure and describe Buddhist training practices. The same framework is also used in a later secular work, The READINESS Method, published by Readiness Press.

This second book in the READINESS series continues your journey with the Ethics and Shamatha stages, revealing how restraint, presence, and renunciation soften passion, craving, and ego, and how to deepen your practice of calm abiding. Through grounded Buddhist psychology and practical exercises, you'll strengthen your clarity, shift your responses, and transform your relationship with yourself and the world.

The full method unfolds over four stages:

- Book 1 - Fundamental Wisdom Stage: See the roots of suffering and the path to escape

- Book 2 - Ethics Stage: Renounce striving and return to clarity

- Book 2 - Shamatha Stage: Build calm, awareness, and presence

- Book 3 - Samādhi Stage: A structured approach to Right Concentration (samādhi) using READINESS

A step-by-step way to meet pain with clarity by: Recognising it, Enduring it, Accepting it, seeing its Danger, Investigating it, knowing it as Not-Self, seeing it as Empty and just a Suggestion, Subject to change, and a path to Suffering if followed (READINESS).

This is not a theory course. It's a lived path of simplicity, insight, and real freedom.

Build on your foundation. Deepen READINESS-not for perfection, but for peace.
