This book is designed to be a succinct overview of the key features of cycling litigation. It looks at cyclists as road users as well as group cycling, racing and professional cyclist claims. The book contains an essential overview of the key aspects of the new Highway code, introduced in January 2022. It also looks at the ins and outs of highways claims and considers the role of cycle helmets and other aspects that could give rise to a finding of contributory negligence on the part of a cyclist.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Patrick Kerr and Helen Waller are both barristers at 12 King’s Bench Walk, one of the leading sets of chambers specialising in personal injury litigation. Both authors are road cyclists and specialise in claims involving cycling.
Patrick is a leading junior ranked by both Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. He is frequently instructed in claims involving professional cyclists, including those who have suffered career-ending injuries.
Helen is regularly instructed by both claimants and defendants as both sole and junior counsel in cycling claims involving serious, catastrophic or fatal injuries. She is much sought after as a trainer in cycling law.
