Some Practical Lessons in Leadership is a compilation of real-world observations made by the author over a period of many years that focus on how true leadership is principle-centered and heavily weighted toward service to others. These are lessons taught by people encountered along life's path, heard in conversations and stories, or drawn from powerful photographs, favorite books and sermons that struck a resilient chord. In some cases, the lessons herein are reflections on personal and professional experiences encountered during a long career in public service and private consulting. Recurring leadership/life themes stressed throughout the book include the importance of living honorable, humble lives; taking responsibility for our actions; setting an example for others to follow; and concentrating significant energy on the development of personal character, our inner core, so that we can then devote our attentions outside of ourselves.
