PRACTICAL SANITARY AND ECONOMIC COOKING PERSONS OF MODERATE & SMALL MEANS 1890. Please find a small vintage hard cover book which must have been well received among the home economics practitioners of the time because it was awarded The Lomb Prize Essay award. Please find: Practical Sanitary and Economic Cooking Adapted to Persons of Moderate and Small Means by Mrs. Mary Hinman Abel. The title page goes on to describe the book as: The Five Food Principles Illustrated by Practical Recipes. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ½ inches 190 pages) was published by the American Public Health Association dated 1890. The book was copyright 1889 by Irving A. Watson then Secretary of the Association. The book is bound in brown cloth with embossed framing on the covers and gilt titles on the spine. Laid-in is a series of small cut-outs of what appears to be clothing illustrations, just a few but these will stay in the book for the new owner. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled but the gilt titles on the spine are still bright and attractive. Inside the book is unmarked but there is some light foxing particularly to the rear endpapers. This foxing or any toning does not extend into the interior pages of the book. There are a few instances of soilingfinger marks from the cook s hands perhaps but nothing extreme. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
