Binding is square and tight with some rubbing to the top-bottom of spine. White boards with illustrations of navigation charts , ship's helm and instrumentation on cover (same as DJ). Some toning of text pages and light foxing on end papers. There is a small 2" damp stain on the first few pages. The top of the spine has some light fraying. End papers have some light soil (fingerprint marks) and heavy toning around glue lines. Text pages are toned. Square book. Great book for someone starting out the old way without today's sophisticated instruments. The DJ is soiled and has chip missing from the spine.
