Good clear copy with some stain marks on several pages. There is a large stain that is evident on the margin of the first forty pages and decreases in size. This stain is believed to be blood. There is some wear on the spine and on the front/back covers. The book is one of the most complete books written at that time relating to the various aspects of surgery and surgical techniques. Most techniques are described in detail in order to assist the student and the practitioner of surgery. It is also of interest to note that amputations of limbs or parts of limbs are not considered at all difficult. This became evident some fifteen to twenty years later when many limbs had to be amputated as a result of wounds sustained during the U.S. civil war. The book also contains a catalogue of medical, surgical and miscellaneous books published by Lea & Blanchard.
