Practising Who Am I

"When one reflects on the wisdom that all that one is consciously aware of at any point in time in one’s life, the objects or the events these are none other than the unique characteristics of the Self or Absolute expressing themselves in the space-time manifestation, and when they have fully manifested and expressed themselves they self-destruct, this being the very nature of the unique characteristics. Now this wisdom is not an offshoot or flows from the ‘I’- Thought, because as a result of this wisdom the ‘I’- Thought also becomes a unique characteristic and recedes in the background. The moment this wisdom is observed by a spiritual aspirant one will find that one becomes consciously aware of the peace, tranquillity, calmness and silence of pure Awareness which floods one’s entire being and one takes a very calm and serene approach to whatever event or objectivity is happening in one’s life.As Sage Ramana has taught the ‘I’- Thought which has the most powerful effect on an individual, and has to be overcome in the quest for Self-realisation, unless the ‘I’- Thought can be observed and looked upon objectively, rather than the ‘I’- Thought always acting subjectively, it is going to be very difficult to fulfil the quest of Self-realisation, and practicing ‘Who Am I’ at a practical level in one’s life.
