Octavo; xvi, 365pp. Bound in eighteenth century quarter leather over marbled boards (lightly worn), recently respined in period style, spine divided by double gilt fillets into six compartments retaining original gilt-lettered red title label in second compartment. Nineteenth century engraved ownership label to front pastedown, a couple of small pencil annotations to front endpapers, occasional very light spotting and paper browning. Complete with frontispiece and sixteen plates by J.A.Chovin, together with numerous decorative head and tail pieces. A very attractive copy of this well illustrated edition of Vaniere's popular poem on pastoral life in 15 books including books on beekeeping, arboriculture, livestock farming and pigeon keeping.
