Prairie Grass Roots describes how broad social changes that happened everywhere in general in the early twentieth century happened somewhere in particular -- Jefferson, Iowa. What was occuring in Jefferson was also happening in Atlantic, Grundy Center, Chariton, and similar midwestern towns in Illinois, Minnesota, and Nebraska...This book is the product of an extended oral history project the author conducted in 1979 during which he interviewed over forty long time Jefferson residents." ~ from the book's inner jacket blurb
