In "Preaching with Eloquence from the Heart" the author develops a Reformed approach to preaching. Critical chapters argue for an extemporaneous approach to preaching. The author is convinced that the emotions play an important role in the act of preaching, and uses insights from the Dutch Reformed theologian Herman Bavinck in arguing for the importance of rhetoric and emotions in the pulpit. One chapter discusses the mysterious internal call to the ministry of the Word. Crucial chapters examine a correct homiletical approach to preaching in which the "Big Idea" is made the central theme of the sermon.
