Preaching by Laymen (Paperback or Softback)

"Preaching by Laymen" is a comprehensive guide and historical exploration of the essential role the laity plays in the ministry of the Christian church. Written by Ozora S. Davis, a respected theologian and educator, this work addresses the practical, spiritual, and technical dimensions of preaching when conducted by non-ordained members of the congregation. The book emphasizes the importance of the lay voice in revitalizing the church and spreading the Gospel, providing a vital bridge between the formal pulpit and the daily lives of the faithful.

Throughout the text, Davis offers insightful advice on sermon preparation, the construction of messages, and the psychological aspects of public speaking within a religious context. He argues that lay preaching is not merely a substitute for professional ministry but a distinct and powerful calling that enriches the spiritual life of the entire community. By examining both the history and the mechanics of effective communication, "Preaching by Laymen" serves as both an instructional manual and an inspiring call to action for those seeking to deepen their involvement in church service. This work remains a significant resource for understanding the participatory traditions of the Protestant faith and the enduring value of diverse voices in the ministry.
