Wordsworth's masterpiece of autobiography is "The Prelude," a poem in blank verse that contains a wealth of personal information about his life. He started writing when he was only 28 and worked on it all his life. It was initially intended as an introduction to "The Recluse," an unfinished work, but it has since undergone numerous changes and expansions. The second and only finished chapter of Wordsworth's "The Recluse" is titled "The Excursion".
