Prepared!: A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults (Paperback or Softback)

Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults is written for anyone who is or has a senior parent, spouse, or loved one with changes in health. Being prepared before, during, and after entering the healthcare system is vital to one’s overall healthcare experience. Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults promises to simply and swiftly arm readers with strategies for thriving through the transitions brought on by changes in a health status.

The objective for completing this work was to give readers a self-guided advocacy book to be used again and again by documenting advice, tips, and suggestions in small doses of content based on where you or your loved one is in the transition in or out of the healthcare system. This is a guide book to help reduce the feelings of fear and uncertainty and replace them with confidence and reassurance.

The book's mantra is be your own B.I.T.C.H. This funny and provocative acronym is a portable guide for staying grounded in the moment of chaos. Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults will help you:

• Be prepared for change
• Inform yourself as a consumer
• Take control of your own plan for care
• Communicate and collaborate with your care team
• Head back home

Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults is written by a master prepared nurse with 30+ years experience in senior care. The book will provide you with expert “insider’s” advice which will serve as a resource to come back to again and again. Throughout this book you will find personal and professional stories and lessons learned, summary tips, and resource materials. In addition to understanding how health care systems function, you will gain an understanding of what it's like to spend a day in the life of a caregiver. Physicians, nurses, and certified nurse’s assistants are leaving the senior care space at an alarming rate. The staffing crisis in senior care has been a topic of discussion, regulation, and funding which intensified during the COVID pandemic. Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults builds caregiver empathy among its readers and arms them with the skills and compassion to work with the facility staff on achieving healthcare outcomes. This book will help you keep up with change in the senior care industry by providing links to the author’s website where resources can be updated and lists keywords in the book for those of you who wish to go beyond this book, and make it easy for you to put the right words into your internet search engine and get the answers that you're looking for. This book will prepare you for the unexpected, yet highly expected “Oh Sh*t” moments that are too often a fact for aging people.
