Reviews
Editors Banks and Pilette present 18 articles on major topics and concerns in library preservation today, including setting up a preservation program, building design and environment control, dealing with emergencies, providing security, funding preservation, and exhibition techniques. Particular chapters focus on the preservation needs of high-use, general, and special collections, respectively. Special attention is paid to concerns about library binding, preservation microfilming, preservation of formats other than paper, and preservation by digitization. This welcome addition to the literature of preservation was begun by Carolyn Harris, a leader in the field, and is published in her memory. Edward Swanson
