Editors Banks and Pilette present 18 articles on major topics and concerns in library preservation today, including setting up a preservation program, building design and environment control, dealing with emergencies, providing security, funding preservation, and exhibition techniques. Particular chapters focus on the preservation needs of high-use, general, and special collections, respectively. Special attention is paid to concerns about library binding, preservation microfilming, preservation of formats other than paper, and preservation by digitization.
