Pressing RESET for Stroke Survivors: How Innate Movement and Neuroplasticity Reconnect Brain and Body (Paperback or Softback)

From Stillness back to Strength: A Stroke Survivor's Journey of Neurological Healing Through Innate Movement.

Vickie Yeingst spent over 25 years coaching more than 1,000 endurance athletes through grueling physical challenges. But in July 2020, while training for her 13th marathon, her world changed instantly. A severe cerebellar ischemic stroke combined with Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy ("broken heart syndrome") left her unable to walk, speak clearly, or coordinate basic body movements. Overnight, the endurance coach could no longer care for herself.

Faced with fear and loss of mobility, Vickie was introduced to Original Strength (OS) PRESSING RESET-a system centered on five simple, developmental human movements: diaphragmatic breathing, head control, rolling, rocking, and crawling. These movements are the original neurological building blocks that wire the human nervous system in early childhood.

Through daily practice, Vickie witnessed extraordinary progress:

• Restored Brain-Body Connectivity: Re-engaging the nervous system through gentle, intentional cross-body patterns.
• Rapid Physical Milestones: Transitioning off a walker in weeks and improving speech clarity.
• Reclaiming Life: Completing a triathlon just four weeks post-stroke and going on to become an OS Certified PRO Coach to help others heal.

Pressing RESET for Stroke Survivors demonstrates that movement doesn't have to be intense to be transformative-it just has to be intentional. This booklet offers stroke survivors, caregivers, and health practitioners hope, clear insights into nervous system rehabilitation, and practical steps to restore balance, confidence, and quality of life.

Original Strength SystemMovement Restoration, Reflexive Strength, and Nervous System RegulationSystem Overview & HistoryOriginal Strength (OS) is an internationally recognized physical restoration and nervous system regulation system designed to help individuals reclaim their innate mobility, reflexive strength, and physical resilience. Operated under Original Strength Systems, LLC, the organization operates on a core mission: "To bring the hope and strength of movement to Every Body in the world".The system was co-created by Tim Anderson (personal trainer, author, and speaker) alongside physical therapist Dan Barrows, chiropractor Mike Musselman, and personal trainer Dani Almeyda. The concept arose from observing that adults-regardless of fitness levels-frequently suffer from chronic pain, restricted movement, and mobility limitations caused by modern sedentary habits, repetitive stress, and injuries.By studying early human development, the founders identified that infants naturally build coordination, stability, and neurological strength without formal instruction. Original Strength distills this human developmental sequence into simple physical inputs known as "Pressing RESET," which reboots central nervous system patterns and removes restrictive neurological "brakes".Core TenetsThe Original Strength methodology operates under four core beliefs: Designed for Movement: The human body is built to move well and remain strong for a lifetime.Innate Self-Healing: The body possesses an inherent design capacity to heal and regulate itself.Preprogrammed Blueprint: Neuromuscular pathways for repair and strength are preprogrammed into human genetics.Universal Starting Point: Physical restoration can begin wherever a person currently is, regardless of age, condition, or medical history. The Pressing RESET System ArchitecturePressing RESET utilizes three guiding principles and five fundamental developmental movements ("The Big 5") to restore reflexive connections. The Three Guiding PrinciplesBreathe with the Diaphragm: Promotes parasympathetic nervous system regulation, oxygen utilization, and core stability.Activate the Vestibular System: Engages eye and head movements to establish head control and optimize sensory information processing.Engage in Contra-Lateral Movement: Crosses the body's midline to stimulate communication between the brain's left and right hemispheres. The "Big 5" RESETSDiaphragmatic Breathing: Foundation of core stability and autonomic regulation.Head Control: Restores structural alignment and brain-body connection.Rolling: Integrates upper- and lower-body musculature to develop reflexive core strength.Rocking: Stabilizes the spine and hips while expanding joint mobility.Cross-Lateral Movements: Cross-body gait movements, like crawling, marching, cross-crawls, that build whole-body power, coordination, and neural connection.Professional Curriculum & Educational ProgramsOriginal Strength delivers accredited courses for personal trainers, physical therapists, strength coaches, and medical practitioners: OS Pressing RESET Course (6-Hour): Foundational course covering the 3 pillars, the Big 5 RESETS, regressions/progressions, leading to certification as an OS Certified Professional - Coach.OS Pro RESET Course (14-Hour / 2-Day): Advanced clinical course diving into autonomic nervous system mechanics, pelvic floor function, pathologies, and the Original Strength Screen and Assessment (OSSA).OS Performance: Advanced online programming designed for competitive athletes and strength and conditioning coaches.OS Movement Snax: A comprehensive library of hundreds of video tutorials for daily movement maintenance.
