A Priest, A Rabbi, and A Baptist Minister: The Murders That Made the Podcast

Twenty years ago, high school graduate, Amber Morretti was murdered in an abandoned warehouse—and the case went cold.

Now true-crime podcaster Lyla Bennett has come to the small town of Porter Mills to mark the anniversary of the unsolved killing on her hit show, Plot Twist, They’re Dead. But the past refuses to stay buried.

When Amber's cousin, Chloe Hollander, is brutally murdered, the town is thrown into chaos. Unlike Amber’s long-forgotten case, Chloe’s death produces no shortage of suspects—starting with her abusive boyfriend, Derek Lawson, who Detective McNeely believes checks every box: motive, means, and opportunity.

As secrets surface and tensions rise, it becomes clear that Porter Mills is hiding far more than one dark truth. And when the investigation begins to unravel, Detective McNeely finds unexpected reinforcements in an unlikely trio: Father Branden O’Clery, his sharp-witted friend Rabbi Ezra Lieberman, and the ever-opinionated Pastor Langdon Boothe.

Together, the three clergy insert themselves—sometimes helpfully, sometimes disastrously—into a tangled web of lies, long-held grudges, and deadly consequences.

With multiple suspects, two murders separated by decades, and a generous dose of clerical humor, this gripping mystery proves that in Porter Mills, faith may guide the soul—but it won’t stop a killer.
