Primal: Power, Status, and Sex in Humans and Other Animals

Have you ever questioned your place in society?

Why do social hierarchies exist at all? Where would we be without them? We celebrate and scorn them, often in equal measure, but what would happen to the world of social mammals, fish, birds, and insects without hierarchies? What can we learn about ourselves, as humans, by re-examining our own status within our social circles and the greater society at large?

How are we, consciously or unconsciously, driven by sex and power?

Humans are a social species; power, status, sex, and hierarchy structures are changing constantly, at times with great rapidity. Human social structures are fluid, flexible, chooseable, and changeable. But what about the rest of the natural world? What can humans learn from other species regarding power, status, and sex?

Please join author Paul Feldmann on a wild adventure into the animal kingdom and discover why, when it comes to status, sex and power, it’s not all that different from our own.
