Print on Demand. This book explores the early forms of landed property in a number of societies, both past and present. The author, a respected historian, argues that the original and universal form of property was the mode of possession practiced by the Slavic and Germanic tribes, in which the soil was the joint property of the tribe and was subject to periodic distribution among all the families. This system ensured that all members of the tribe had access to the means of subsistence and prevented the accumulation of wealth by a few individuals. The author contrasts this system with the quiritary property system of the Romans, which gave individuals exclusive and hereditary rights over land. The author argues that the quiritary property system has led to inequality and social strife, and that a return to the more egalitarian system of the past may be necessary to prevent the collapse of modern societies. The book offers a fascinating insight into the history of property and its implications for the future of society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
