THIS IS NOT A FACSIMILE, OR A RECENT REPRINT. THIS IS THE 1894 EDITION. Condition: Several old, but faint stains on binding. Corners lightly bumped; some signs of old insect marks on endpapers; former owner's name written on blank page of preliminaries [appears to date back to the late 1890s or early 1900s]; lightly age toned, especially edges. Four pages have roughness to extremities [may have taken place during printing]. Text is clear and very readable; illustrations are clean and vivid. This revised and enlarged edition includes those species being introduced that are comparatively common, or of importance in enabling the reader to acquire a fundamental working knowledge capable of wider application. When practical, those descriptions have been supplemented by illustrations. The introduction of carefully shaded and colored illustrations in the text is new. A sketch of the evolution of our knowledge upon immunity and infection has been introduced, and an outline of apparatus necessary for a beginner's laboratory has been appended, according to the publisher. This improved edition also includes double the letterpress visuals and triple the number of illustrations found in the former edition.
