Principles of Charged Particle Acceleration

An introductory text on the physics of charged particle acceleration and transport. Equal emphasis is given to low energy and high energy accelerators, so that the material is relevant to a wide variety of applications. Treats finite difference methods and analog methods and shows how to use analytic methods to solve Laplace's Equations. Provides a detailed discussion of the role of ferromagnetic materials in accelerators, and a review of ferromagnetic materials and permanent magnets. Offers a unique review of high voltage phenomena and pulsed power circuits—vacuum breakdown, Marx generators, transmission lines, pulse forming networks and pulsed beam diagnostics. It's also the only text to present material on linear induction accelerator.
