Pages 232 to 236, of this 586 page volume, discusses `Special Direct-Current Machines'. A prime example being the arc-welding generator. Noting as well that, the load of a direct-current generator is inherently unstable. LEARN more about : lap winding, deflection, photographic film, oscillograph, overload, induction furnace, Plante plate, torque, wattmeters, vibrating-reed rectifier, exciter, and squirrel-cage motor. Lots of b/w diagrams expand on the text. Cond : Boards are dark blue with gilt lettering at spine. Off white end-papers. Issued w/o dust jacket (??). Name of p/o on ffep. Very light general wear.
